Florence Foster Jenkins

Wednesday, February 2, 2022

Florence Foster Jenkins (born Narcissa Florence Foster, July 19, 1868 – November 26, 1944) was an American socialite and amateur soprano who became known, and mocked, for her flamboyant performance costumes and notably poor singing ability. Stephen Pile ranked her "the world's worst opera singer ... No one, before or since, has succeeded in liberating themselves quite so completely from the shackles of musical notation.

What are the types of delusional disorder?

Grandiose. A person with this type of delusional disorder has an over-inflated sense of worth, power, knowledge, or identity. The person might believe he or she has a great talent or has made an important discovery.
The debate at hand would be, would you allow a person to continue this behavior and feed this delusion to keep a person happy, peaceful, and content if they were to cause no harm to themselves or another?

If you know the movie made on Florence, you will understand (Spoiler) that once she found out her venues and shows were fake, she fell fast into depression and passed away. Her hopes were taken.

But on another side with this this story. Don’t ever let fear stop you from doing the things you love doing or want to try in life whether delusional or not. I have always wanted to play an instrument and sing on stage all my life. I did some self-hypnosis and jumped on stage and smashed out the song “Johnny Be Good” with guitar and to which I could sing or not doesn’t matter. The point was to beat my fear of others and their judgments.

Did, or do I regret my moment?

Absolutely not!!!
